[Photoblog] 2018 in Review: I did all this?

2018 was my ride or die. It was full of moments that left me in awe, put my capabilities in a trial, overwhelmed me with joy and with its last bit, challenged me with deep sadness as well.

I love the photoblogs because it has always been hard for me to see the small successes. As I looked through these moments, I said to myself, “I did all this?“. Believe me, there were a lot of question marks, not just one.

As always, thanks to the many friends I made along the way.

JANUARY

Washington, DC– I flew in after new years to start the American Studies Program. I immediately fell in love with the city.

FEBRUARY

Washington DC — I interned with the Pride Fund to End Gun Violence, loved my spot in front of the window which later was taken away by full-time staff (No hard feelings). As I settled in, I discovered the free admission Smithsonian museums one by one. All my regards for those who facilitate these places.

MARCH

Philadelphia, PA — Downtown and Brooklyn, NY — Washington, DC — March was the month of traveling. Taking the bus to close by cities that made you believe miracles really did happen.  March meant freedom.

MAY

Bursa, TURKEY– Coming home. The overjoy of being surrounded by family, reintroducing myself to the culture and being amazed by it. May meant transition… missing the old and learning the new.

AUGUST

Eskisehir, Burdur, Antalya, Bursa, TURKEY– I spent little to no time at home in August. It made me happy and a bit frustrated at the same time. Exploration gave joy to my heart but the anxiety of it all being over created darkness.

OCTOBER

Vancouver, Whistler, BC– New beginnings, trials, and errors, lots of them. October really revealed its colors and beauty. The mild weather showed me the compassion I had long been waiting for. It was the beginning of a rollercoaster and I was learning to get through it with a new set of vision.

DECEMBER

Seattle, WA, and Vancouver, BC– December, my soul is constantly trying to find its way back. It has been one of the hardest months for me being away from family and constantly thinking about my purpose in everything that I do. It is now time to forgive, heal, and take one step at a time. It has been a special month that hid more to it than what’s on the surface.
